INTERSPORT Holland - sponsor of the LG Amsterdam Tournament 2006
07.08.2006 | On Friday 4th and Saturday 5th August, INTERSPORT Holland sponsored the LG Amsterdam tournament 2006 held at the sold-out Amsterdam ArenA. This year, the participants were no less than the well-know football clubs of Manchester United, FC Porto, Inter Milan and of course Ajax Amsterdam.
Football giant Manchester United to win the LG Amsterdam Tournament 2006!
It was the first time that Manchester United has won the LG Amsterdam Tournament and Sir Alex
Ferguson was delighted with the victory! They achieved it with ten points – three for each victory
over FC Porto and Ajax, plus one bonus point for each goal they scored (four). Internazionale ended
second with 8 points, FC Porto gathered 3 points and grabbed the third place in front of the
tournaments host, Ajax Amsterdam, who ended fourth with 2 points.
The sold-out Amsterdam ArenA witnessed four spectacular matches with fantastic goals, fanatic
play, great saves and a well deserved player of the tournament: United goalkeeper Edwin van der
Sar!
This year the four top teams scored a fantastic total of twelve goals, a record since 2002!
The audience supplied a huge amount of excitement and noise and created a Champions League-like
atmosphere.
