20.02.2007 | INTERSPORT, the largest sporting goods retailer in the world, has signed up as a sponsor for the 29th European Athletics Indoor Championships. The company, whose UK offices are in Birmingham, are the first national partner for the event, which will be staged at the National Indoor Arena from 2-4 March 2007.
Volunteers at this international athletics event will be dressed to impress as INTERSPORT, who
have 4800 stores world-wide, will be providing all the uniforms for up to 800 volunteers who will
be helping out at the event. This uniform could include items such as polo shirts, sweatshirts,
trousers and jackets.
Championships Director Brian Stocks said: “We are delighted to welcome INTERSPORT as a
national partner for this prestigious event. Their support will be essential in making sure that
our volunteers, who play a hugely important role in making the championships a success, will be
both smartly and comfortably dressed in high quality uniforms. It is great to see a local company
supporting an event which will be hugely significant for the city of Birmingham.”

As a local company we feel it is important to support sports events being staged in our home city but this event also has an international significance and with stores in 29 countries INTERSPORT is a recognised international brand.”
The 29th European Athletics Indoor Championships will see more than 600 athletes from around 49 countries compete at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena. The event is expected to attract around 15,000 spectators.
