INTERSPORT continues its long-term relationship with the IIHF World Championship
27.04.2007 | INTERSPORT continues its longterm relationship with the Ice Hockey World Championship and will therefore be official sports retailer of the 2007 IIHF World Championship.
The 71st IIHF World Championship will be played in Moscow, Russia on April 27 - May 13, 2007,
either in the 14.500-seat Hodynka Arena or the 7.000-seat Mytyshi Arena.
Champion Sweden opens against Italy on April 28 while host Russia takes on Denmark in their first game on opening day, April 27, with both games at the Hodynka Arena.
It is the sixth time Russia (Soviet Union) will host the IIHF's World Championship; 1956, 1973, 1979 and 1986 in Moscow and 2000 in St. Petersburg. The hosting team has never lost an IIHF World Championship game in Moscow. Team Russia, under new national team coach Vyacheslav Bykov, will try to become the first team since 1986 (Soviet Union) to win the world championship title on home ice. Russia is waiting for its first IIHF World Championship title since since 1993.
