18.03.2008 | INTERSPORT herewith proudly announces to be Official Champions Partner of the EHF Handball Champions League.
The EHF Champions League is the most important European handball club competition. The
competition was founded in the season 1956/1957 and is administered by the European Handball
Federation.
Handball (also known as team handball, field handball, European handball or Olympic handball)
is a team sport where two teams of seven players each (six players and a goalkeeper) pass and
bounce a ball trying to throw it in the goal of the opposing team. A standard match duration
consists of two periods of 30 minutes each.
The game has a goal similar to but smaller than the one in association football, though as
the name implies, the basic method of handling the ball involves the players’ hands rather than
their feet. The game has been played internationally since the 1920s.
After the EHF Champions League Main Round ended in week 11, the EHF Champions League has arrived to the semi-final stage. Four men's clubs remained in the competition for the CL trophy. The men's CL semi-final draw was carried out in the EHF Headquarters, Vienna, today.
The semi-finals of the Men's Champions League will see two German-Spanish duels. The following four teams will participate in the semi-finals in April 2008:
BM Ciudad Real (ESP) vs. HSV Hamburg (GER)
THW Kiel (GER) vs. FC Barcelona (ESP)
